“Inspired by the desire to combine two symbols of relaxation, a hammock and a bathtub, we have created a piece that provides the closest possible product for temporary escapism,” explains Mili Hartwell., co-founder of Splinter.
The relaxing posture of lying in a hammock has been enhanced by combining it with the comfort of soaking in a hot bath. By literally lifting and hanging the sculptural reservoir, the bathroom becomes a haven for contemplation and relaxation.
Designed for use in a damp room, the wall-hung tub does not touch the floor. It is mounted on stainless steel brackets that can be hidden or left in plain sight. The bathtub is filled with a faucet in the floor and the waste water is discharged through a drain hole in the floor. It is also possible to install a downspout drain pipe if the moisture resistance of the room does not allow direct drainage through the floor.
The tub is made from carbon fiber, which is used for its inherent strength and ability to form into complex curves. In addition, this material has a fabric structure used to make hammocks. Underneath the layers of carbon fiber is foam which provides insulation and keeps the water hot much longer than normal.
Measuring 2.7 m, this bathtub is slightly longer than the usual one, which makes it more comfortable to use. Custom sizes are also available. There is the possibility of a slight reduction in length up to 20 cm, without compromising installation flexibility. Pictured here in black, the tub is also available in red, blue, yellow, pink, bronze and silver.
With clean lines and curvaceous shapes, this design object takes stylish relaxation to a new level!
