From the outside, from the side of the Spree embankment, the Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin looks like an ordinary standard European building. But inside the hotel is a real masterpiece of design fiction. The windows and balconies of the most expensive and prestigious rooms of the five-star hotel overlook the courtyard, where a huge aquarium is suspended under a huge convex glass dome. Inside the cylinder (height - 16 meters, diameter - 11 meters) there is a two-level glass elevator that lifts up to 30 visitors to the upper observation deck. During the construction of the aquarium, which was immediately called "Aqua House", many original design and technical innovations were embodied, starting with glass 20 cm thick. You can view the inhabitants of the aquarium from all sides - from below, from the reception, from windows and from the balconies of the rooms above - from the observation platform. And even, having put on a scuba gear, from the inside - the design of the aquarium provides for such an opportunity. This allows the purest water of the aquarium and thoughtful illumination of the entire body of water.
Many figures characterizing a giant aquarium are amazing. This is its weight of 150 tons (without water) and volume of a million liters. Construction time (11 months) and cost (about 13 million euros). The selection of the inhabitants of the aquarium and the modeling of the ecological system were carried out on a scientific basis - this was done by experienced oceanologists who selected 97 species of corals, among which 57 species of fish live comfortably. A multi-level habitat has been created for marine inhabitants, allowing them to coexist peacefully. Inside the aquarium there are underwater rocks, in which it is convenient to hide small predators, a lot of different algae. A favorite sight for hotel guests is to watch the daily work of two scuba divers cleaning the Water House and feeding the fish. The aquarium is extraordinarily beautiful during the day, in natural light, and at night, when it is darkened and glows with the mysterious deep blue. This novelty, although expensive, will pay off very quickly, as it has made the Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin one of the most original hotels in the world and raised its popularity among the many visitors to Berlin unusually high.
