The hotel in Bormio (Italy) is very new, it opened in 2012. The Milanese design studio "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners" has managed to combine the charm of rural life and modern conveniences in the Eden Hotel building. The hotel is conspicuous, visible from afar - and this is done in simple ways. Four buildings, united by passages into one building, have different widths and shapes of facades. A simple reception immediately makes the outline of the hotel attractive and non-standard. "Introduction to Rustic Style" also begins with the exterior of the hotel. Deliberately primitive wooden fence and plank wall cladding prepare the guest for what awaits him inside. Characteristic features of the hotel are simplicity, achieving design goals with laconic touches. In the entrance hall, the impression of home comfort is achieved by a burning fireplace, original wooden tables, unevenly trimmed carpet, and old snowshoes. The restaurant is flooded with light from the huge glass walls, comfort is created by a soft wall sofa, fur skins on the chairs. By the way, rustic styling never forces designers to sacrifice comfort requirements. Modern double-glazed windows are so good at insulating that they allow new passive heat transfer technology to function. The same can be said about the sanitary facilities - they are modern, comfortable and functional.
In the rooms, designers achieve a rustic-style atmosphere with the help of black-and-white checked fabrics, homespun runners, massive wooden furniture, wicker baskets for things, wooden wall panels. The most "rustic" room of the hotel is the outdoor terrace. Here is a complete set of village attributes - an old brazier, tables made of wood logs, wicker chairs covered with sheepskins. The entire "Eden Hotel" is a vivid illustration of how you can achieve your goals with minimal means, while showing a subtle sense of proportion.
