Ancient mansion with interior design in ethnic style

On the rocky Italian coast, there is a luxurious mansion with a very ancient history that dates back to the sixteenth century. The mansion was part of a monastery, and today's owners purchased the building for summer holidays. After long discussions, it was decided to create a kind of symbiosis of antiquity and modernity, to decorate the interiors in ethnic style.

Inside the villa consists of three levels. On the first level there is a small living room, it is also an entrance hall, a kitchen and two guest bedrooms. The second level is a living room, six meters high. The master bedroom was placed on the third level.

It was important to emphasize the height of the ceilings, while making the rooms modern and comfortable. Iron doors have been inserted into the huge arches leading from the living room to the terrace, which can be fully opened and combine the interior with the surrounding nature.

Another non-standard solution, which the architects called the “flying sofa”, is a balcony on the third floor inside the mansion. In addition to the decorative function, it has a functional one - it is an observation deck from which magnificent sea views open.

Majolica and Uzbek suzani

In interior design, designers started from the idea of making majolica of the eighteenth century the main element. She gathered for a long time in local markets, then combined the pattern, after which a great idea was born - to create a kind of ribbon of tiles that would unite all the premises.

The tape starts on the ceiling in the living room, then becomes a table in the living room, goes to the floor, then becomes a table in the dining group and again goes to the ceiling in the dining room, where ceiling lights are installed in it.

The protruding part of the inner balcony is also lined with majolica, as well as the steps and the podium in front of the iron staircase to the third floor. It leads to the master bedroom, where the podium, on which the bed is set, is also decorated with antique tiles.

Ethnic style in the interior, in addition to tiles, is supported by ancient Uzbek suzani - luxurious interior textiles, handmade by skilled craftswomen.
