How to build a frame-type country house with your own hands

We will consider technological moments on the construction of a two-story building. The size of the object is 5x10m. The thickness of the insulation used in this case is 15 cm.

Step 1 - foundation

If you are lucky, and the strip foundation has already been poured on the site by the former owners, then you can simply adjust its perimeter by increasing or decreasing the size. Adding length and width is easiest with columnar technology. As a result, you will get, though combined, but a fairly solid foundation for forcing walls. the old foundation is a good idea to additionally protect. To do this, it is released from the adjacent soil to about half a meter deep and a waterproofing composition is applied to the walls.

The frame wall is quite voluminous and it is better not to try to install it alone. At this stage of construction, it is rational to involve assistants. Installation of corner and interior walls will take about a week.

It is important to correctly connect the corner zones with the cross straps. For reliable fixation use:

It is necessary to monitor the sheerness of the walls and intermediate racks. All structures must be in the same plane. Why this is important you will understand at the stage of sheathing. When assembling the frame, there should be a gap between adjacent racks, the width of which will be equal to the thickness of the insulation that is planned to be laid in the wall.With this approach, you will avoid the hassle of cutting insulation boards or gluing them, which, by the way, will positively affect both the speed of installation work and the quality of the object’s thermal insulation. The absence of unnecessary seams and joints minimizes heat loss.

Step 4 - strengthening the frame

The wall frame must have a margin of safety, which can be given to it by supplementing the structure with braces and braces. The role of such components is difficult to overestimate. They form the spatial rigidity of the core. The connection of the struts with the bar strapping and racks is made by frontal cutting. The braces are introduced by cutting with a half-pan or fastened with the help of banal nails and bolts. Each wall surface should have at least two struts. Obviously more details appear in the event that increased requirements are imposed on the frame of a prefabricated house in terms of force rigidity. Additional guarantors of the strength of the house will be ceilings, wall cladding, internal partitions.

When conducting the construction of a two-story country house, there will certainly be a need for the installation of interfloor ceilings. Since the x area will be large enough in our case, we will have to insure their strength by arranging crossbars. Elements will make the logs more reliable, rigid and durable. Horizontal crossbars are placed above window openings and in the area of ​​​​doors. In the first case, two x are required, in the second, one reinforcing structure is sufficient.

Step 5 - put on the roof

The roof structure in a frame house consists of a truss system and the roofing part itself. The latter is multi-layered and resembles a pie in its structure. Composed of:

1. Rough coating.

2. Vapor barrier layer.

3. Waterproofing layer.

4. Decorative coating.

The truss system is assembled according to a previously developed project. It also calculates the consumption of materials. The optimal height of the attic space is 150 cm. The ideal shape of the roof is four-pitched, although the project may provide for any of its solutions. Installing a roof takes about a week on average. The rough layer is assembled from 25 mm boards. It will become the basis for fixing the insulation. ICOPAL can be replaced with a banal roofing material, which is fixed with “magpie” nails. It is better to give preference to Finnish-made material, which is more resistant to fracture and lighter. You don't have to worry about the price difference. Strongly you will not overpay for the latter.

Step 6 - wall cladding

The erected frame of the house should be sheathed with an inch board. At the same time, part of the sheathing material must be attached at a certain angle in order to add reliability to the house structure. If there is a financial opportunity, then instead of a board, it is better to sheathe the house with cement-bonded particle boards or other types of slab material.

If the house is being built in the off-season, then before glazing and installing doors, all openings should be tightened with a dense film. In the same way, it is possible to protect the installed roof truss system, if it does not yet have a roof covering. Sheathing work always starts from the facade and continues along the side walls. The back of the house is finished last.

Step 7 - finishing work

Your country house is almost ready. It became to strain up just a little and give it an aesthetic appearance.The first is to carry out roofing work. The best material for decorating roof slopes is flexible bituminous shingles. Here again you need an assistant. To cover a frame house of our dimensions, 29 packs of soft roofing will be required. In order for the roof to turn out beautiful, you need to follow the straightness of laying the rows. This will help the pre-made markup of the base by pulling the threads or beating with a cord.

Fix soft tiles with ordinary nails. It is important to hammer them strictly perpendicular, and do it in such a way that the hat does not crash into the shingle, but is flush with the main surface.

Roofing work with flexible tiles is carried out at a temperature not lower than + 20o, and the working day is divided into 2 halves: morning and evening. The time of the sun standing at the zenith falls out of the graph. In extreme heat, special scaffolding should be used to move around already covered areas. This will prevent deformation of the roof surface.

Particular attention to the removal of passage elements (pipes, chimneys). Before installation, the parts are lubricated with bituminous mastic and securely fixed to the base of the roof. The exit point is also processed with a bitumen composition and roofing material is already laid on it. For a snug fit, trim the tiles, which is done directly in place.

The final stage of roofing work will be the installation of a ridge aerator. This element is necessary for the unhindered exit of air from under the roof space.

Along the ridge on the wooden flooring of the roof, a bed with a clearance of 3-8 cm is cut out for it. The aerator is fastened with galvanized self-tapping screws. This is followed by a protective layer of ridge-cornice tiles. Do not forget about the need to install a roof drainage system.

The roof is ready. It's time to start decorating the walls. It is rational to produce external cladding of frame buildings with siding.
