Unique design of a small apartment in Gothenburg

Scandinavian style in interior design is elegance multiplied by rationalism. Residents of the northern latitudes always lack sunlight and warmth, so it would be logical to use bright colors and a large amount of textiles in decorating rooms, but no, in Scandinavian interiors, comfort and aesthetics are achieved by completely different methods.

A small charming apartment in Gothenburg, in our opinion, is a worthy example of sophisticated Scandinavian style, where tradition is intertwined with modernity, and technical innovations coexist with antiques.

Where did it all begin?

The area of the apartment is about 60 square meters, it is located in a house built at the beginning of the last century. The main advantages of the living space are large windows, high ceilings and a magnificent view of the city from a small balcony. Cons: adjoining rooms. In general, the layout is familiar, especially to residents of St. Petersburg.

When creating new interiors, it was decided to take care of the heritage of the past years and keep some details, such as ceiling moldings, wide window sills and an old stove in the living room. The working functions of the magnificent stove, unfortunately, could not be restored, but as an art object it fit perfectly into the interior of the living room.

50 shades of grey

It would seem strange why in a harsh climate not to use bright colors in interior decoration, but in Scandinavian interiors everything works from the opposite. It is restrained cold tones that create an amazing atmosphere of warmth and comfort. And the gray color is so multifaceted and subtle that you can endlessly play with shades and their combination.

In the design of the living room, only two colors were used - white and gray. Gray color is presented in all its diversity from graphite to light gray, and not only in the design of surfaces, but in furniture upholstery, accessories and furniture painting. Well, of course, what a Scandinavian style without wooden furniture. It is worth noting that modern, quite budgetary furniture fits perfectly into the interior and even the TV does not look like an alien from the future. In order to integrate it into the design, an interesting technique was used, a mirror with an almost black amalgam was placed almost opposite the screen, and two glossy dark surfaces added dynamics to the interior and formed into a single concept.

The kitchen is dominated by white, but one wall is painted a deep dark emerald green. This technique was used to visually correct the elongated shape of the room. The kitchen set is located along the longest wall, which saves a lot of space for the dining area and cooking.

The principle of decorating the bedroom is almost identical to the kitchen, only one wall was painted with a dark blue color. The bedroom has a regular square shape, with two large windows - bright and very intimate. The designers even managed to organize a small working area.

Balcony

The balcony is another advantage of the apartment. The view of the city is fascinating and inspiring, comfortable furniture allows you to comfortably drink a cup of coffee while admiring the awakening city.
