Making a workbench from plywood

To make such a homemade workbench, you will need:

• usually 2 m long;
• electric saw in the form of a disk;
• notched trowel 2x2 mm;
• glue "Moment", intended for gluing plywood;
• plywood strip 1.22x0.3 m;
• plywood sheet, 1.8 cm thick.
• clamps.

This workbench will be a structure made of several plywood sheets.

The dimensions of the countertop should be 1.5x0.6 m, and the thickness of the cover should be up to 7.2 cm.

Plywood is a fairly expensive building material, so one plywood sheet can cost about 1,000 rubles, excluding delivery.

In order to save money, you can use only one sheet of plywood.

First of all, you need to make blanks for the desktop countertop. To do this, one sheet of plywood must be divided into several equal parts, 1.52x0.61 m in size.

Then, after checking the plane of the sheets, you will need to fold them to each other so that they are inward with the convex side.

After that, the parts must be glued together. Glue is applied with an ordinary brush on one surface of any plywood quickly, in a matter of minutes.

This is a rather complicated process.

Instead of Moment glue, you can use PVA designed for furniture. Glue must be of high quality.

It is also necessary to take care in advance that there are clamps and boards at hand, with which it will be possible to press the glued parts of the plywood.

When tightening the clamps, you need to keep the plane of the plywood sheets under control. This tool will help, as a rule. The tabletop of the workbench cannot be clamped with clamps, so it can not be loaded additionally.

Several sheets of plywood are best glued together on a smooth surface. After applying the glue, the glued parts are pressed down from above with a heavy sinker.

There may not be a flat surface in the house for the manufacture of this design, however, the clamps will be quite enough for the sheets pressed down by the load to stick together firmly.

It is necessary to wait until the glue dries, remove the clamps and proceed to the next step.

The working surface of the workbench should have a size of 1.5x0.6 m.

• To give the workbench the correct geometry, it is necessary to take as a guide small plywood plates measuring 15 cm. They are distributed around the perimeter of the desktop cover.
• The legs of the workbench are a kind of glued structure, consisting of several parts and one block. They are attached to the cover of the device with self-tapping screws (8x120 mm).
• Drill recesses on the workbench table top, which will later be needed to fix the workpieces during processing.
• Build drawers, shelves or cabinets under the cover of the workbench in which equipment will be stored.
